Amplification of current pit instruments and the human voice will be allowed in DCI starting in 2004. Amplification proposal PASSES.....
By a 12 to 8 vote, the Drum Corps International board of directors passed the rules proposal to allow for amplification of current pit instruments and the human voice. This will be allowed starting during the 2004 competitive season, making the 2003 season the final unplugged season in junior drum corps. This proposal, proposed by George Hopkins of the Cadets, does not allow for battery percussion or the brass lines to be amplified, nor is it a gateway to electronic instruments, according to Hopkins.
